How to Make Kinetic Sand
We found a few recipes for homemade kinetic sand but this one was our favorite. We found it on One Little Project one of our favorite blogs!
It’s easy enough for young kids to follow along and still enough fun for older kids to join in as well.
Ingredients for Kinetic Sand
- 6 Cups of Sand
- 1-1 1/2 Cups Cornstarch
- 2 Teaspoons Dish Soap (we prefer Dawn)
- 3/4 Cup of Water
Mix dry ingredients together. Mix soap and water in separate dish. Mix liquids and dry ingredients together thoroughly. If the sand seems to dry, slowly add more water. If it becomes dry after play, water can be added as well.
We added food coloring to our sand to make it extra fun! This was a fun project and the sand is still being played with a solid week later. In fact we enjoyed making and playing with our kinetic sand so much we are now considering an entire sandbox of it next year!
Let us know if you make your batch. We would love to hear from you and see pictures of your buckets of sand!
